In partnership with Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation, the Toronto Botanical Garden conducts programs for high needs schools at the Allan Gardens Children's Conservatory from November to March. Programs take place in a greenhouse that has been refurbished to facilitate innovative horticultural programs for children. Programs are free of charge and priority is given to classes from high-needs schools in Toronto. Programs are available for Grade Three and Four classes, and are designed to encourage students to appreciate their environment from new perspectives.

Activities in the greenhouse include:

  • planting and harvesting edible plants
  • meeting vermicomposting worms
  • touring the lush greenhouses
  • exploring soil and plant relationships (Grade 3 Curriculum)
  • playing habitat games (Grade 4 Curriculum)

Each class will attend two sessions, giving students a chance to see the plants they grew from seed.

For more information, call 416-392-7290 or email allangardens@torontobotanicalgarden.ca

Programs are offered in partnership with TD Financial Group, and Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation. Endowment support for programming provided by the Donner Canadian Foundation in association with the Ontario Heritage Foundation.
