Stacey McIndless, a Green Thumbs volunteer at Sunnybrook Hospital, holds a basket of spring flowers grown by volunteers at the greenhouse on the hospital grounds. Sale of their plants, which are grown year-round, raises about $20,000 a year for the hospital. The Green Thumbs will be selling spring flowers at the Toronto Botanical Garden's annual Get the Jump on Spring open house.

Presented by Toronto Botanical Garden in partnership with the Ontario Horticultural Association - District 5

Visitors will enjoy a full day of programs and events including meeting over 40 horticultural and specialty garden societies as well as 12 dynamic speakers and demonstrators offering tips and information on everything from "critter management in the garden" and "the new pesticide law" to succulents, alpine troughs and Japanese floral design. They can also get free advice from the Toronto Master Gardeners who will be available throughout the day as well as giving lectures each hour. One of the show's annual highlights is the floral design competition (theme yet to be decided).

There will also be a marketplace featuring over a dozen vendors offering a wide variety of interesting garden-related merchandise. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the cafe and rest in the lounge.
