This multifunctional garden is an interactive outdoor classroom with demonstration areas for courses and workshops for both adults and children. Compost bins, raised beds and borders located in both sun and shade are used to demonstrate gardening basics.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Plants have been chosen to demonstrate different gardening techniques, such as propagation, pruning and floral arts and crafts.
  • The Toronto Botanical Garden is committed to
    environmental responsibility. The horticultural staff uses and promotes organic gardening practices which are taught and demonstrated in this garden.
  • This garden includes a variety of groundcovers
    that tolerate dry shade.
  • A Straw-bale garden shed was built in this courtyard in April 2008.
