Volunteer
Tour Guides conduct tours through these four gardens in Toronto;
Toronto Botanical Garden, Edwards Gardens, Toronto Music Garden
and Allan Gardens. These informative and engaging tours are
designed for groups of adults to gain a greater understanding
of plants, the natural landscape, landscape design and the history
of these unique gardens. There are regularly scheduled free tours
in addition to tours for groups that can be pre-arranged for a
nominal fee per person.

Through
the Garden Gate: Riverdale
The 21st annual self-guided walking tour highlights over 25 private
gardens in Riverdale. The gardens of Riverdale are as diverse
as the residents. You'll see everything from tranquil, flowering
Japanese-type gardens to English cottage-style gardens featuring
a riot of colours and shapes - and everything in between. Many
of the gardens are small, so full advantage is taken of every
bit of space.

Etobicoke
Private Garden Tour
[PG08S14] Frank Kershaw, Paul Zammit
Enjoy this morning tour visiting the private gardens of Paul Zammit, Frank
Kershaw and a third award-winning garden, all located in Etobicoke. Paul
Zammits garden is best known for its variety of succulents, cacti
and well-designed containers. Frank Kershaws garden is a collectors
garden reflective of his many interests in all kinds of plants. He has
artfully arranged his subjects in a variety of environments that meet
their habitat preferences (i.e. woodland, rockery, scree, border). Our
final garden features a diversity of woody plants, including magnolias
and Japanese maples, and wildflowers set within a breath-taking design.
Roundtrip bus transportation is included in the tour fee.

Gardens
in the Sky: Green Roofs
and Rooftop Gardens

Enjoy a private tour of several landmark rooftop gardens in downtown Toronto,
led by the designer of the TBGs very own green roof. Learn how meadow,
perennial and annual gardens can be grown atop commercial and private
buildings as well as how Terry designed a multi-level green roof atop
a private residence. This new rooftop garden consists of four very different
above-ground gardens. Highlights include a small tree and private secluded
garden complete with a hot tub. Gain insight into the planning, philosophy
and benefits of green roofs and rooftop gardens and their growing importance
in todays changing environment. This tour has a limited number of
spaces so please register early to reserve your spot. Transportation provided
between tour locations.

Garden Rooftop Tour & Luncheon at
The Fairmont Royal York

Its the year of the eggplant, and the Fairmont chefs will be growing
eggplants, squash, zucchini and more on their rooftop! They are also adding
a couple of beehives to aid in pollination. Join Marjorie for an exclusive
tour of the newly renovated rooftop herb and vegetable garden at The Fairmont
Royal York. This sky-high garden, the only one of its kind in Toronto,
is an extension of the hotels environmental stewardship program
and part of the chef apprenticeship-training program. In this garden,
executive chef and urban gardener David Garcelon grows fresh herbs to
season the dishes in Canadas largest hotel kitchen. Marjorie will
take you on a guided tour to show her newest selections to be used in
the hotels cuisine. To complete the experience, enjoy a gourmet
three-course lunch featuring the Fairmonts special herbal-infused
cuisine in EPIC, the hotels Four Diamond fine dining restaurant.

In this fall tour and workshop, learn how to divide your plants and care
for perennials in the fall season. Enjoy an informative walk through Marions
garden and a hands-on outdoor workshop on propagation, the simplest (and
the cheapest!) way to make new plants and easily increase your plant numbers.
Take home some cuttings from Marions garden and browse her selection
of unusual plants for sale.
