VOLUNTEER
CHILDREN'S CENTER ASSISTANT
TIMES:
Friday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Toronto Botanical Garden, James Boyd Children's Center
Toronto
Botanical Garden children's teaching staff are looking for a Children's
Center Assistant interested in volunteering Friday afternoons in the James
Boyd Children's Center. The Children's Center Assistant would be involved
in preparing student materials and worksheets, helping with camp and school
visit registrations and setting up the JBCC for school visits and birthday
parties.
Volunteers should have some experience preparing educational materials and basic computer skills in programs like Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. This is an excellent opportunity for those hoping to apply to teacher's college or an ECE program.

CHILDREN'S GARDEN ASSISTANT

LOCATION: Toronto Botanical Garden, James Boyd Children's Center
Toronto
Botanical Garden children's teaching staff are looking for a Children's
Garden Assistant interested in volunteering Monday afternoons in the Teaching
Garden at TBG. The Children's Garden Assistant would be involved in tending
the large organic vegetable garden, permanent perennial gardens and helping
prepare for visiting classes.
Volunteers should have vegetable and perennial gardening experience, a basic knowledge of organic gardening techniques and can work well independently. This is an excellent opportunity for those working towards a career in horticulture or landscaping. Opportunities to assist with teaching are available in addition to the gardening duties. Please enquire at time of application.

Children’s
Program Summer Day Camps
Monday – Friday, July through August 2008
- On-going
commitments only (either 1-2 days/week every week, or for an entire
camp, ie: 5 mornings in a row, for a single week)
- Supporting
teachers running camps
- Increasing
our adult to student ratios
- Should
be willing to commit to a minimum of half-day per week
- Police
Reference Check Required (we'll cover half this cost)
- Basic First Aid required
Special Events and Family Days
- Assist children and visiting families in creating their own unique birdhouses
- Assist TBG staff set up and facilitate simple activities for visiting families
- Assist
with children's tours of TBG's green building
- Set up and clean up of The James Boyd Children's Centre
- Promotion of TBG Children's Programs to visiting families
